The initial
objective was to convert the off-graded
starfruits (rejected not for their quality but
degree of ripeness, sizes and shapes) into value
added products. This lead to the process of
juicing and fermenting them into fruit wine.
Subsequent distillation of the fruit wine into
fruit brandy added more values to the final
product. This process also buffered the
inconsistent supply of fruits and export market
fluctuation of the starfruit industry. As a
result, it helped the local farmers to fully
utilize their resources and improve their
livelihood. Rem Corporation still maintains its
initial objectives but with a slight shift in
emphasis. The shift is to develop a diversified
beverage industry within and outside Malaysia
that will produce high quality and healthy
beverages mainly from local raw materials. The
aim is to meet customers' satisfaction in the
local and international markets. Other tropical
fruits are used as well in this process, the
latest being our dragon fruit wine, enzymatic
drinks, banana, rambutan and mangosteen. |

The early
development of star fruit wine and brandy was
subsequently used for the production of herbal
liqueur. The commercialization of these products
was spearheaded by contract manufacturing for a
reputable company which markets traditional
Chinese medicinal products under its own brand
name.
The competitive edge of our herbal liqueur is
the low alcohol content as compared to the
traditional medicinal drink imported from China.
During the early 1990s, the health conscious
Asian market was confused by the ''French Paradox'' which promotes the consumption of red
wine in relation to heart diseases. To adapt to
the changing trends of the consumers, the
company made the move to produce red and white
wine using grapes and other fruit juice
concentrates from California, Italy, Australia
and China.
The great demand for red wine caught the
attention of the bottlers. This has created a
new market for our contract manufacturing and
bulk supply of our wine and brandy to the bottlers. |

The initial
objective of the company to produce healthy
beverages using biotech processes of
fermentation, distillation and extraction has
resulted in increased "fusion" wine consumption in modern
times.
Since our raw materials are mainly from plant
sources, it is only natural for the company to
develop its own unique processes using Poly

produce a myriad of health products for the food
and beverages, supplements, cosmetics and
pharmaceutical industries. This unique
technology can also be used in the development
