Tongkat Ali Wine
Tongkat Ali is a common name often
used by Malaysians to describe the
plant ''eurycoma longifolia''. This
plant is native to the regions of
Indo-China, Peninsular Malaysia,
Borneo and Sumatra. It can grow to a
height of 10 meters. Tongkat Ali has
always been claimed as the "King" of
Malay traditional medicine. It is a
plant popularly known for its
aphrodisiac property for men.
However, it is widely used
traditionally for its anti-malarial
property due to the presence of the
quinidine compounds. Preliminary
research studies on other chemical
substances found in Tongkat Ali
indicated some properties for the
treatment of fever, cuts, diabetes,
headaches, skin diseases, syphilis,
hypertension. In addition, it has
also shown some "Viagra Effects" on
some males. Scientific reports on
its anti-cancer properties are not
conclusive.
